BEFORE THE EVENT
How can I check availability?
The simplest way to see if we are available for your event is to check online. Click the CHECK AVAILABILITY button above too check now.
What time do you arrive for my event?
Depending on your event, expect us arrive at least 1 hour before your actual start time. This gives us plenty of time to set-up BEFORE any guests arrive. You NEVER pay for set-up or tear-down time.
Do I really need a DJ?
Of course you don't "need" a DJ, but remember the DJ will do more than just "play music". Somebody has to get your guests pumped up. We not only coordinate with all the vendors for your event, but also keep everything running on schedule. Nobody wants to listen to your awesome collection of Led Zeppelin for 4 hours. Variety is the name of the game. The less you have to worry about, the more you can actually enjoy YOUR event.
Do you require vendor meals?
We don't "require" a meal, but it's nice if there is a warm meal, since it's such a long day for us too.
If the party starts earlier, but guests might arrive a bit later, is it better to have the DJ show up later as well?
If you were to start later, just remember that your DJ would be unloading equipment & setting up in front of any guests that are already at your party. It’s better to be set up earlier than later, since it really can disrupt a party. And you don’t want to lose any guests by waiting too long for something “FUN” to happen.
Is there a written contract?
A written contract will be sent to you after the initial contact. It will list all the event details.
How do we get started?
Just send your 50% deposit with signed contract back to us. That way, everything is spelled out, including choice of music, duration of event and compensation. So we’re all on the same page – no surprises!
What about insurance?
All of our DJs carry full liability insurance to protect you and your guests. We can email any venue our insurance paperwork, before your event.
DURING THE EVENT
How much coordinating does the DJ do?
As with any event, the DJ is just one of the many pieces of the puzzle. We use only experienced DJs's to help coordinate with all the other vendors to keep everything running smoothly. As your DJ, we will make sure that the caterers know when to get the food out on time, that your photographer or videographer is always ready for that perfect shot, plus who else can make sure that "Uncle John's" speech doesn't last all night. Of course having a plan beforehand is a must, thats where we can help you with what ever event you are planning. Just think of your DJ as a wedding coordinator with the power of a mic.
What about announcements?
Most events will have some sort of announcements or speeches. With the help of a wireless mic, We can keep the action flowing, without missing a beat. Everything from formal announcements, speeches and everything in between can be handled with ease.
What will the DJ be wearing?
Your event dictates what we wear. Ultra formal tux at the Ritz or Hawaiian shirt with flip flops on the beach. Whatever the event, your DJ should always blend in to make everybody else feel comfortable.
MUSIC
What Kind of music do you play?
Social Chemistry Events constantly strives to add music to our already extensive library of music. There is something for every body, regardless of age, plus of course the "clean" version of the newest hits. Over 5000 albums and counting. From 20's Jazz and Swing 40’s Big Band & Bebop 50’s & 60’s Classic Rock 70's Disco and Funk 80's New Wave and Alternative Top 40 hits for every genre including Dance, R & B, Hip, Hop, Alternative and Rock Plenty of hits available from other genres, such as Latino, Classical, Jazz, Foreign, Reggae and plenty of others.
How do you handle music requests? Can you ignore certain requests?
It's your party and your guests, the more requests I have, the more fun you and your guests will have. Of course there are limits. If you can't stand the chicken dance or YMCA, just let me know ahead of time. Of course only appropriate music will be played, so nothing with explicit lyrics or anything inappropriate for your guests.
What kind of equipment do you use?
As you already know an iPod is not going to cut it for your event. That's why we only use the best equipment from the likes of Cerwin Vega, Crown, QSC, Numark, Eso, Audio Technica, Traktor, Serrato and my personal favorite, my QSonix Touch Panel music server (no low quality MP3s here).
